Why I Quit My Job

I quit my job without a job.  Sounds like an emotional decision, right?  Quite the contrary.  I was finally thinking about my future with a clear mind.  Why the heck would I spend anymore time in a place where I am not happy?  It’s not like I am in my 20s anymore and have another 5-10 years to waste while I figure out what I want to be when I grow up.

So, I quit my job without a job.  The last few weeks have been a great exercise to determine exactly what I want.  I have met with huge companies, tiny start-ups, and groups that fall in the middle.  Nothing fit, and I don’t want to compromise.  I guess I am a job snob like I am a beer and food snob.

In the last few days, I have determined that I don’t want to work for anyone.  I want to be my own boss.  So that is exactly what I am going to do.  I am excited and a little nervous.  And guess what…if it doesn’t work, I can compromise later.  I need to try this now.

Now for a shameless plug.  My soon-to-be-named-company is available for your marketing planning, social media, and creative needs.  You can reach me at mistybrowning@me.com.
